Painless Anesthesia - The WAND™

The WANDWe know that some patients get more nervous than others do at the mere sight of a needle and syringe. That's why this office now performs anesthetic injections with a revolutionary system called The WAND™.

The source of discomfort for most injections, however, isn't the needle, it's the flow of the anesthetic into your tissue. The WAND™ delivers the anesthetic at an optimal flow rate for a comfortable injection.

The microprocessor inside The WAND™ automatically ensures a steady flow rate regardless of tissue density. Constant, slow flow is one key to virtually pain-free injections. The computer provides a flow of anesthetic directly ahead of the needle. This creates a pathway of anesthesia so you hardly feel the needle at all.

The WAND™ allows injections that do not numb the lips, face and muscles of expression. Whether injections make you nervous or not, The WAND™ helps us provide a more effective anesthetic delivery and the onset of anesthesia is often faster. You're more comfortable throughout the procedure, and we may be able to use new techniques so you won't experience the lingering numbness of your tongue, lips and face.

BioPureBiopure MTAD

In root canal therapy, it is essential that the entire root canal system be completely and thoroughly cleansed prior to sealing the canals. Biopure is setting the standard for root canal cleansing. This product is an antibacterial root canal cleanser which is designed to chemically clean and disinfect the root canal system following endodontic instrumentation. Its ingredients are designed to disperse throughout root canal irregularities and dentinal tubules to clean and disinfect in microscopic areas. In addition, it facilitates the penetration of medicaments and sealers. Biopure improves the opportunity for success in endodontic treatment.

Computer Digital Radiography (CDR)

digital x-rayDental x-rays can now be taken using sensors that transmit the image directly into a computer monitor. This larger image helps the patient understand the doctor's explanations more easily and enables the doctor to "zoom in" on a specific area of the tooth. An important advantage to this new technology is that it reduces the amount of radiation by 90%. Digital x-rays are also faster. The digital image only takes 20 seconds to appear in the monitor. In addition, this new technology is friendly to the environment since no chemicals are needed for developing the image. Surgical Microscope

Surgical MicroscopeIn our office, we use a Zeiss Surgical Microscope. It provides enhanced visualization of the endodontic access or surgical area up to 25 times. This is especially beneficial for accurate visualization of complex anatomy cases, for locating root fractures or defects, for root-end surgery, for removal of separated instruments, and for locating canals.

High Magnification Eyeglasses with Fiber Optic Illumination

High Mag EyeglassesRoot canal therapy is a micro-surgical procedure. In order to provide optimal magnification, we utilize Orascoptic Loupes, which are like little microscopes with a fiber optic light attached to glasses. The use of this device enables us to work in the most precise and efficient manner on every case.

Ultrasonic Instruments

These instruments utilize ultrasonic vibration to clean and prepare a root canal for filling. Ultrasonic devises are particularly useful to clean the root-end during surgery or to remove a post or other obstruction in the canal. With the use of ultrasonic instruments today, we are able to save teeth that many years ago would have had to be extracted.

Nickel Titanium Rotary Instruments

Nickel Titanium has the unique features of flexibility and shape memory. The instruments are used to clean and shape the inside of the canal. Previous stainless steel instruments had the tendency to break and could not take a curve to follow the shape of the canal, so it was difficult to clean the canal successfully. Nickel Titanium is 500 times more flexible, so even canals that are sharply curved can be thoroughly cleaned and shaped. Using these instruments routinely, allow us not only to be more effective, but also to work faster and more quietly.

Electric Handpieces

New electric handpieces are virtually silent. This significantly reduces the anxiety of our patients. These handpieces are designed to be used exclusively with nickel titanium rotary instruments.

Electronic Apex Locators

It is important for the success of root canal therapy to clean and fill to the very end of the root, without extending beyond or being short. The electronic apex locator aids in measuring the length the canal by determining accurate position of the apical constriction through a resistance force.

Softened Gutta Percha

Gutta-percha is a rubber-like material and it is the only ADA approved material to be used as a permanent filling material for root canals. We soften the gutta percha using the Analytic System B and the Calamus Flow in order to mold the gutta-percha to fit the curve and shape of the canal. It is essential to fill and seal the canals in three dimensions to prevent future micro-leakage, which can allow bacteria to re-infect a tooth.
